Soft Skills are Hard
Where you stand is what you see.
We think of empathy as a soft skill, and often apply it to our interpersonal relationships.
Don't say horrible things to people, don't go out of your way to be offensive, the list goes on - elementary stuff.
But the ability to leverage empathy at a macro level brings an entirely new perspective to everything.
You have a set of beliefs and experiences that back up your worldview, as do I.
Now, being empathetic in the macro would mean that I understand you've arrived at a set of beliefs that may not match mine.
Would that make me a better communicator?
Would it make me build better products?
Would it make me calmer and happier?
